Eric Lomax is a destroyed man. This British man is haunted by the terrible moment he lived during WWII when he was a prisoner in a Japanese camp, forced to work on the thai-burma railway. He then decided with some of his friends to build a radio receiver to be in touch with the progress of the war. But, the Japanese found it and tortured him believing Lomax was a spy.
Decades later, Lomax he’s still very perturbed by these memories. He meets Patti, his future wife in a train : love at first sight, but quickly Patti will discover that her husband can’t talk about the abuse he endured and ask for help to Eric’s old war friends Finlay. Finlay explains the situation to Patti and revealed that the Japanese man who was the interpreter and principal torturer of Eric is still alive. Will it be time for a revenge? This information will change Eric’s entire life….
I really loved this movie. The story is so powerful and beautiful in spite of the cruelty of the war. It is a true story and you are really absorbed in it until the very end. All the actors : Jeremy Irvine (young Lomax), Colin Firth (older Lomax) and Nicole Kidman (Patti) are prodigious.
